RE: Anyone from NJ Interested in November Trip

I bet I could talk my DW and 9 yr old DD into a trip. I have two other families that we go camping with a lot that might be up for it as well.
We are in the town next door to you.

Class A with Bunk Beds

I am thinking about switching to a Class A if I can find one I like with bunk beds. I saw an Allegro 35QBA which has bunk beds, and wondered if there are any others.
2 Requests -
Please provide any feedback on Allegro motorhomes.
Please let me know if any other companies make a Class A with bunk beds.
Thanks,

RE: Time for new tires...

What is the psi rating of your wheels? If your OEM was load range D I suspect the wheels have a max psi of 70 lbs. The Maxxis load range D tires are still a good option if you don't want to buy new wheels.
The prices you mentioned are good, and I am hoping they include mounting, new high pressure valve stems, and balancing. If so, your local Maxxis tire dealer is giving you a very good price. Most places don't balance trailer tires, but it won't hurt to ask.
One of the questions I ask myself when faced with decisions like this is - What is the safety of my family worth? If you believe Maxxis to be the best of your options, I suspect you already have your answer.

RE: Mid Atlantic Group 2nd ELK NECK MD RALLY Sept. 26-28,2008

Is this rally open to anyone? We camped with a few of these families last year at Gettysburg, and we had a good time.

RE: what 5th wheels have four-bed bunkrooms?

We have a Sunnybrook Brookside 298FWBHS, and we love it. Lots of room, and very well made. The 299 FWBHS also has 4 bunks.

RE: Dark Patio

Have you thought about solar powered landscape lights? I would hate to see your awning roll up with the lights attached.

RE: Maxxair vent covers - have you used them?

The day I picked up my 5er I brought it to CW to get Maxxair vent covers and slider awnings installed.

RE: learned something today

Thanks for sharing. I can just picture the spray coming up.
A friend of mine tried mine last year, and they didn't keep an eye on the monitors, and overflowed a bit. His DW was not too happy.

RE: Costco American Express Cash Back on Fuel

I went to Costco this afternoon, and picked up an Amex application. I asked if the 5% applied to Diesel, and the person didn't know. I was going to call tomorrow, but it looks like the above people have already used it for Diesel. 5% on all fuel purchases is going to help. I have been using a AAA Visa, but they only let me use the AAA Checks to buy stuff at AAA.
Thanks for the above info!!!

RE: Think this is a scam?

I saw a post on Craigslist with the same name a few weeks ago. At that time she was in the US Military, and stationed in the UK. She had a Jetta in Norfolk which she needed to sell. I received a very similar canned email.
She is having a tough time, and now needs to sell her RV for an operation in China. We all know that China has a much better medical system than we do here in the USA. I think we should all send her our credit card numbers, and tell her to take what she needs so she can walk again. My heart bleeds for her - NOT.
It is too bad that people like these can't be stopped.

RE: Type of 5th wheel hitch

I went with a SuperGlide hitch since I have a SB. Did my research, and would buy the hitch again if I had to do it all over again.

RE: Sunnybrook Brookside vs. Cougar X-lite

I have a 2008 Brookside 5er, and like it very much. I did a fair amount of research before buying, and am still happy with my decision.
What was your biggest reason for going with Sunnybrook? Was it the quality? Is the AX5 frame as solid as it looks in the pictures?
Quality of the design and construction, and my inspection at a few RV shows. I have seen a lot of new units which were at the shows, and already needed warranty work. We are planning to use our rv for a long time.

RE: Cost of ownership 7.3 vs 6.0, What's your opinion?

My truck has the 7.3, and I have almost 125,000 miles. It hasn't given me any problems.
It will tow my 5er without much effort.

RE: Campfires

Perhaps a fine would give this type of irresponsible behavior food for thought. I have seen some go to bed with the fire still burning strong. I guess if their rv burned down it would be someone else's fault.

RE: Synthetic Oil

I have used Mobil 1 in my vehicles since way back when. Mobil makes a 5w40 for Turbo Diesels which is what I have used in my truck for about the last 120,000 miles. I don't know if I get better mpg on syn oil. In 1994, I had a '90 mercury cougar (3.8 liter) with 110,000 miles on it. My DW had a '94 T-bird with the same engine. My engine was running just as strong, and I was getting the same mpg as T-bird. I suspect the oil was helping it last. A number of people had head gasket problems with this engine. I didn't have a problem with either engine. I sold my cougar with 175,000 miles, and it was still running strong.
I use Mobil 1 to help my engine last. I figure I would rather pay a little more at each oil change than replace the engine. I change my own oil and it runs about $100. $5.50 * 15 quarts and $10 for a Mobil 1 oil filter and change every 5,000 miles vs. $2.50 * 15 Quarts and $5 - $10 for an oil filter and change oil every 3,000 miles.
I guess we all have our preference , and that is why they make so many brands of oil.

Had a big drop here. Went from an arm and a leg to just an arm.
$4.63 on the NJ Turnpike. 4 cent drop.

Magellan Maestro® 4250 AAA Edition

I was looking at this GPS, and it looks like it will meet my needs. I have AAA Plus RV, and thought this would work well if I broke down. Does anyone have this GPS, and what is your opinion?
I have recently started looking at GPS systems, and would appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks,
